The Western Cape is experiencing its worst drought and most regions have water restrictions. Find out about the current dam levels and the different levels of water restrictions in the Western Cape province.

We currently face a serious drought due to poor rainfall during our 2015, 2016 and 2017 winter seasons. The demand for water has also steadily increased every year due to the province's rapidly growing population and economy. This, as well as rapid climate change, has added significant pressure on our water supply.

The City of Cape Town and the national Department of Water and Sanitation measures dam levels to check how much water is available for the region and whether water restrictions are necessary for residents and businesses.
