Enjoy a trip down memory lane with Cloud 9 when you Rock and Roll through the ages at Benguela Cove.

Formed more than seven years ago, Cloud 9 have entertained crowds at over a hundred gigs and concerts throughout this time. The band is renowned for their special take on classic UK and USA rock from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. Cloud 9 boast a extremely large repertoire consisting of rock from the likes of the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Status Quo, Creedence, Moody Blues, Chuck Berry, Dire Straits, Eric Clapton, Eagles, Elvis, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple and AC/DC.

As Scientific Manager, Scientific Services at CapeNature, Dr Andrew Turner is the man responsible for the conservation of amphibians and reptiles. Speaking at Driftsands Nature Reserve on the Cape Flats, he highlighted the array of new vertebrate species, some of which have yet to be named. The conservation status of the new species must still be assessed. New species include the Karoo rock elephant-shrew, the Swartberg dwarf chameleon and the rough moss frog, and lesser known species like redfin minnows, galaxias fish, sandveld lizards, legless skinks, mountain toads and moss frogs. A group of frogs called cacos is waiting to be formally described.

The Western Cape’s most exhilarating open water swim, the Sanlam Cape Mile brought to you by Sanlam Investments takes place annually at the Grabouw Country Club’s Eikenhof Dam and boasts two exciting distances: a 1 mile (1.6km) and a refreshing 500m swim. Exciting categories that can be entered include: 1 x mile, 5 x mile, 500m or a 500m team relay (consisting of a 4 member team with each team member swimming 500m). The inaugural Sanlam Cape Mile was held in 2015 and was a resounding success with the event growing from strength to strength each year. We look forward to welcoming all swimmers to the water’s edge of the Eikenhof Dam for a memorable swimming experience like no other.

XTERRA Grabouw is the biggest XTERRA event in the world, with over 2000 XTERRA Warriors battling it out for the coveted title of South African XTERRA Champion. There are also numerous age group qualification slots up for grabs for the XTERRA World Championship held annually in October in Hawaii.
