In the past Overstrand was allocated a small desk on Wesgro stand. This Overstrand presence is to market the destination and its offerings.

As in the past Overstrand Tourism was represented by the tourism officials and Tourism Mayoral Committee members. Insights and learnings are incorporated into plans and strategies. Any business wanting to attend Indaba can do so - as a product or a collective.

Overstrand Executive Mayor, Dr Annelie Rabie, attended the 2023 Africa’s Travel Indaba and says she is delighted by the interest that delegates from all over the world are showing in our region at the trade show.

The Overstrand Tourism stall is popular and they have a steady flow of tour operators and travel agents asking many questions about attractions and activities.
They were thrilled to meet Richard Quest, CNN International journalist, and presenter at the Overstrand Tourism stall.

Overstrand - well represented

Another first is that Dr Annelie Rabie in her capacity as Executive Mayor and Chair of the Tourism Portfolio will be accompanying Municipal Manager Dean O’Neill, Overstrand Tourism Manager Frieda Lloyd, and Gansbaai Tourism’s Glenda Kitley this time round.

Marine Dynamics is part of Cape Country Routes and The Marine Hotel and White Shark Projects are part of the African Travel and Tourism Association, Mosaic is part of Inspirational Places and Coot Club is part of Classic Portfolio, Nydia Carelse applied to be part of the Hidden Gems SA Tourism stand. Grootbos and SA Forest Adventures have their own stands. Also at the Indaba were Annamarie Sales of Pottingshed Guesthouse, Charl de Kock of Whale Coast Hotel, Madeleine Smuts of The Windsor, Alta Pretorius of Hermanus Business Chamber and Jeanette du Toit of the Hermanus Whale Festival.

The plan is to see how a more extensive group of stakeholders can be taken to Indaba in 2024. The organisation of a travel show attendance is a job on its own.
